Mined Land Rehabilitation Conference 2019

The 9th Annual Best Practice Ecological Rehabilitation of Mined Lands Conference (2019) is organised by CRC CARE in conjunction with the School of Environmental and Life Sciences at the University of Newcastle. CRC CARE is an independent organisation that performs research, develops technologies and provides policy guidance for assessing, cleaning up and preventing contamination of soil, water and air.
This annual conference is a significant event on the Hunter Region calendar. It provides an important avenue to promote the use of best-practice approaches in the management of rehabilitation of mined lands.
Based on previous years’ attendance figures (approximately 40% rehab professionals, 20% academic, 20% industry and 20% government), we are anticipating approximately 300+ delegates, making it the largest mining rehabilitation conference in Australia.

We sought abstracts in any of the following areas:
Successful candidates for oral or poster presentations will be notified via email , following review by our scientific committee.
Accepted presenters will receive a discount on the registration for the conference.
- ecological restoration and rehabilitation science, research and or best practice
- case studies along with achievements and lessons
- the regulatory environment now and the future
- biodiversity assessment now and the future
- mine voids and pit lakes
- other topics of interest to the mine rehab community

How to Submit your Abstract
Your 200 word abstract should be submitted via the button below accompanied by your 100 word (max) biography, with a high resolution head shot and contact details that you wish to be publicly available. See the abstract template and guideline attached below. Please ensure you note whether you wish to be considered for an oral presentation, or a poster presentation. Please ensure that your abstract is submitted before 11 April 2019.

Poster Presenters for Mine Rehab Conference 2019
This year marks the return of the Student Poster Prize with $1000 of prizes. Prizes are awarded for the top posters by students at the conference.
All poster presenters will get a 2 minute on-stage opportunity during the conference to introduce themselves and their poster to the delegates. The posters will be on display during the tea and lunch breaks for viewing and for poster presenters to discuss their work with interested delegates.
Note: A limited number of scholarships are available for those students presenting posters to attend the conference, contact Prashant for details.

A survey of last year's Conference Sponsors found the majority of sponsors were happy with the sponsorship opportunities provided and most would consider sponsoring at this year's conference.
Respondents indicated that sponsorship enhances networking events and allows the conference to broaden education programming, and allows the conference to increase services to attendees.
A survey of last year's exhibitors found high satisfaction with the organisation of exhibitors, with the majority of respondents interested in exhibiting at a future mine rehab conference.
The conference met the expectations of the majority of respondents, with the majority satisfied with the quality of inquiries that were received at their exhibition space.
